How is it calculated?

Required Ah ≈ capacity × missing state-of-charge. Time ≈ required Ah / charging current / efficiency. Tapering near full charge can extend real time.

Example

Charging a 100 Ah battery from 50% at 10 A will typically take more than the ideal five hours.

What questions does this tool answer?

  • How long will a battery take to charge?
  • How is Battery Charge Time calculated?
  • What inputs are needed for Battery Charge Time?
WHAT CHANGES THE RESULT

Check these before using the estimate

Electrical and energy calculations are not final designs by themselves. Load profile, conductor conditions, protection, efficiency and local codes must be considered together. Sorsana tools are intended for preliminary sizing and scenario comparison.

  • Continuous and surge characteristics of the real load
  • Cable length, conductor material and ambient temperature
  • Battery, charger and inverter efficiency plus usable capacity
  • Manufacturer data and applicable local electrical codes
FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Why does the final part take longer?+

Many charging profiles reduce current as the battery approaches full charge.

Can every battery accept high charging current?+

No. Follow the manufacturer’s charge-current and temperature limits.
