How is it calculated?

Energy added = battery capacity × (target SOC − start SOC). Time ≈ energy / effective average charging power. Real charging curves taper, especially at high SOC.

Example

Charging a 60 kWh battery from 20% to 80% adds 36 kWh; at an ideal 11 kW AC rate it takes about 3.27 hours.

Will a car always take 150 kW from a 150 kW charger?+

No. Vehicle limit, battery temperature and SOC all affect charging power.

Are AC and DC charging the same?+

No. AC is limited by the onboard charger; DC depends on battery and fast-charging curve.
