How is it calculated?

Packs = area × (1 + waste) / actual m² coverage per pack. Thickness and thermal resistance are separate design choices.

Example

Example: An 80 m² roof, 8 m² per pack and 7% waste requires 11 packs.

What questions does this tool answer?

  • How many insulation packs are needed for a roof or wall?
  • How is Insulation Roll / Pack calculated?
  • What inputs are needed for Insulation Roll / Pack?
WHAT CHANGES THE RESULT

Check these before using the estimate

Renovation estimates are most sensitive to measurements, product coverage and waste allowance. Before ordering, verify the result against the actual m²/L, m²/pack or unit coverage printed on the product.

  • Using net dimensions rather than mixing gross and net area
  • Waste from cuts, breakage and pattern alignment
  • Actual coverage stated on the product pack or datasheet
  • Surface condition, installation method and site tolerances
FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Does this calculate insulation thickness?+

No. It estimates quantity; required R/U value and thickness depend on climate and construction.

Why use the package m² value?+

Product density, thickness and packaging determine actual coverage.
