How is it calculated?

Wheel RPM = engine RPM / (gear ratio × final drive). Speed = wheel RPM × tire circumference × 60. Real rolling diameter and drivetrain slip cause differences.

Example

Example: At the same RPM, taller gearing or a larger effective tire diameter increases theoretical speed.

What questions does this tool answer?

  • What road speed corresponds to engine RPM, gearing and tire diameter?
  • How is RPM to Vehicle Speed calculated?
  • What inputs are needed for RPM to Vehicle Speed?
WHAT CHANGES THE RESULT

Check these before using the estimate

Automotive estimates are highly sensitive to driving conditions. For consumption, tire sizing and charging, the vehicle manufacturer’s approved limits remain the final reference.

  • Real consumption, speed, traffic, load and weather
  • Vehicle and tire manufacturer approvals and geometry
  • Charging losses and usable battery window
  • Fuel, toll and energy prices changing over time
FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Why can automatics differ?+

Torque-converter slip, lockup and electronic ratio control can move real speed.

Where do I get tire diameter?+

Calculate from tire size or use manufacturer rolling-circumference data.
