How is it calculated?

Series strings add voltage while Ah stays the same. Parallel strings add Ah while voltage stays the same. Nominal Wh ≈ Vbank × Ahbank. Avoid mixing different ages, chemistries or capacities.

Example

Example: Four 12 V 100 Ah batteries arranged 2S2P produce 24 V, 200 Ah and about 4.8 kWh nominal energy.

What questions does this tool answer?

  • What voltage and Ah will my battery bank produce?
  • How is Battery Series / Parallel Bank Planner calculated?
  • What inputs are needed for Battery Series / Parallel Bank Planner?
WHAT CHANGES THE RESULT

Check these before using the estimate

Electrical and energy calculations are not final designs by themselves. Load profile, conductor conditions, protection, efficiency and local codes must be considered together. Sorsana tools are intended for preliminary sizing and scenario comparison.

  • Continuous and surge characteristics of the real load
  • Cable length, conductor material and ambient temperature
  • Battery, charger and inverter efficiency plus usable capacity
  • Manufacturer data and applicable local electrical codes
FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can batteries of different capacities be mixed?+

A bank should generally use matching chemistry, capacity and similar age.

Is nominal kWh the same as usable energy?+

No. Chemistry, depth of discharge, temperature and current draw reduce usable energy.
